The Purposed Trek

Keep me safe, O God, I've run for dear life to you. I say to God, "Be my Lord!" Without you, nothing makes sense.

Shalom Zambia

I just learned of an amazing project taking place October 16th - 23rd. Shalom Zambia is the project and you can visit the website at www.shalomzambia.com and see the amazing works that are being done and learn how you can support the project. I heard Paul Wilbur (leading Shalom Zambia) speak regarding this project on Saturday and my heart was gripped for the children in this nation and the current situation. He said the average life span of an adult there is 39 and that there are children wandering the streets alone, orphaned at the age of 2 and 3. Can you imagine a 3 year old wandering the streets with no food or shelter, then to find out they don't even have parents because they died due to HIV or other plaguing diseases that run rampant in this country, in the continent of Africa as a whole? Zambia is one of the top three poorest countries in Africa. Paul asked us "Who will cry out for the children of Zambia?" My question to you is "How you can sacrifice your time in prayer/tears or any other way regarding people or places that causes your heart to break?" It isn't just about Zambia, it is about a generation that is dying because of corruption on so many levels. The people don't just need your money or mine, they need you and me, they need our tears and our prayers. Sacrifice is what these people do daily, they sacrifice to live, to take a breath. What do we sacrifice and what is the sacrifice for? It is all about shalom and being a vessel to bring peace to a place or a people group that grips your heart and causes it to break just reading, hearing or seeing the place or people. The nations are at your finger tips, how will you touch them?

Marci-
I love this post. Yeah, the community where Thrive works is gripped with HIV...39% of the school age children in this community have HIV. I am excited to begin working with Thrive as the Leadership Summit program continues to grow and touch the lives of the children.

Blessings,
Charlene

Hey Marc' - great post. I was recently confronted myself by the Holy Spirit on the same issue, but with the country of Sudan. Not only is there extreme poverty, but corruption and war have left thousands of people with so little. Prayer is the best thing we can give them...
