The Purposed Trek

Keep me safe, O God, I've run for dear life to you. I say to God, "Be my Lord!" Without you, nothing makes sense.

All for $20.00

There are many things here in South Africa that cost more money than in the States such as electronics, books, appliances, tacos, etc. However I was so pleased today when I went to the fruit and veg market and bought all of the following:

  • 1 large watermelon
  • 1 small spanspek (cantelope)
  • 1 punt of green grapes
  • 2 punts of strawberries
  • 1 punt of nectarines (6 in a punt)
  • 1 punt of peaches (6 in a punt)
  • 1 bag of pears (10 in a bag)
  • 2 bags of cleaned lettuce mixes
  • 1 english cucumber
  • 1 flat of nartjes (15 in a flat)

All for the whopping prices of R140.00 which is $20.00. Fruit season is approaching which means apples and pears aren’t my only choice. The fruit such as strawberries and peaches are becoming super cheap. I love it! There is no way to not eat healthy here – it is cheaper than eating processed/prepared foods.

Wow, Marc! That's just great. Maybe I can make it that way on Saturday. It's still the same market we last went to, right?

Yay for low-priced produce!
