The Purposed Trek

Keep me safe, O God, I've run for dear life to you. I say to God, "Be my Lord!" Without you, nothing makes sense.

Bandito's

29 August 2007

So I know it has been a while since my last post, but I actually haven't had much to post on. Nothing too exciting going on, but I had to share a little "you know you live in South Africa when" I experienced a couple of weeks ago. I was at the Super Spar (nicer grocery store here) and I found nacho chips, Old El Paso salsa, and taco seasoning and bought them up to cook when my friend Charlene was in town. I am posting a picture of the bag that the nacho chips came in. First of all it is a baggie - not a typical chip bag in the states - you have to use scissors to open the bag. The cost to make tacos here is: $4 for a small jar of salsa, $2 for a pound of mince meat, $4 flour 6 tortilla wraps, $1.50 for a packet of taco seasoning, $4 for a bag of shredded cheddar, $4 for the bag of chips below. Then about $4 for the rest of the items. So needless to say it is not a meal cooked often. I am focusing in on the bottom of the bag because I thought the tag line was hilarious.

I wish I could post the sound it makes when eating them because you practically crack your teeth when biting into them, they are very hard and are definitely not my favorite. I do miss good ol' tortilla chips, especially the blue corn ones and the tostitos with a hint of lime.
